Welcome to Year Seven and Eight
The Year 7/8 syndicate is made up of three classrooms of approximately 29 students in each. The team is lead by Rodney Montford (Room 1), Deidre Edwards team teaches in Room One, Heather Clayton teaches on Room Two with Abby Lovett teaching in Room Three. All teachers work and plan together as a team and run parallel programmes.
OUR VISION
By the end of Year 8 our students will have developed the skills to Critically Think, be independent and have developed Work and Study Skills to prepare them for future education.The Year 7/8 syndicate are given the following unique learning opportunities;
- Students are selected by staff and their peers to lead each school house and become the student council members.
- All students take part in Technicraft at Fairfield Intermediate. This takes place on a Monday and a Friday every second week. The subjects are - Art, Fabric, Food, Workshop (Hard Materials), and Biotech.
- Every term all students participate in the Catholic Intermediate School Sports competitions - Swimming, Cross-country, Athletics.
- Students also have the opportunity to be selected for Waikato Full Primary Schools competitions which cover both sporting and academic pursuits.
- Strips are awarded to students who achieve excellence in sporting or academic activities. Students can also receive strips for conduct.
- Each classroom learns a different second language for the year. Room 1 - Japanese, Room 2 - Spanish, Room 3 - French.
- Science Fair is a big part of term 2 where students plan and carry out individual science fair investigations.
- There are two EOTC experiences offered this year, the first one being our annual trip to the Whakapapa ski fields. Our term four camp this year is based in the Bay of Plenty.
