Room Eight Fishing News Welcome back to St Joseph's and to Room 8. As you are aware your child is part of the Junior/Middle Syndicate and Year 3/4 team. This year in Room 8 Mrs Wood will be teaching every morning until 11am while Mrs Mc Farlane is running the Reading Recovery Programme. After morning tea Mrs McFarlane will be in the room.
The programme is planned together so that we get a thorough coverage of all the curriculum areas and also so the programme runs smoothly. We have lots of exciting opportunities and activities planned for the year.
This year our class motto is "Room 8 is an ocean of opportunities!" Our focus is all about setting challenging personal goals, taking opportunities to extend ourselves and striving to achieve with support from home and classroom teachers.
We will be celebrating those children who stand out as Star Fish/Angel Fish. Keep an eye out in the weekly homework or check out our "Catch of the Week" display board to see who is making a splash in Room 8.
The classroom programme is formatted as follows:
Roll/Admin, Prayer, Fitness, Oral Language/Te Reo, Religious Education, BRAINFOOD Maths. MORNING TEA. Reading/Writing. LUNCH. Afternoons are set aside for other curriculum areas such as art, music and the study of topics.
Please ensure that your child brings their PE gear each day as we will be doing daily fitness and other PE skills related activities. They may also wish to bring a water bottle that they can keep on their desk.
Homework: ยท Homework will come home on a Monday and is due back in on Friday. The homework book can remain at home all week. Every second week we will be sending home a syndicate based grid homework sheet. A "Room Eight Fishing Report" will come home on alternate weeks. This newsletter will keep you up to date as to what is happening in 'our pool' (class) and important dates that may be coming up.
Please don't hesitate to pop in and see us if you have any queries. Our classroom already looks amazing so don't forget to swim on in and check out all the great art work.
